We Get to Live Here…

Summer is in full swing in Lake City! As I spend time out and about it brings a smile to my face seeing our community members and visitors enjoying the many things that Lake City has to offer; beautiful parks, several beaches, pickleball games at Underwood Park, unique dining experiences, quaint retail shops, delicious food trucks, Market by the Lake, our new splashpad at Ohuta Park, and so much more. In my family we often stop and say, “we get to live here” and it is such a true statement. There is so much beauty right at our doorstep, and I hope you take time to enjoy some of things these places and experiences have to offer. And don’t forget by supporting our local businesses we see an extremely positive impact on our local economy to keep it thriving.

I do hope you take a few moments to read the rest of this month’s newsletter because we have a lot of things happening and several upcoming events, especially the ones right away this weekend. The 2nd Annual Y-Knot Tri Triathlon will take place Saturday at Ohuta Park, and it’s not too late to be a participant in this family friendly triathlon. The event is a paddle, bike, run and you can register as an individual, team of 2, or a relay team of 3. If you can’t participate, it’s always great to have supporters cheering on the athletes. After the triathlon, stick around for Lake City’s annual beach party, Float-a-Palooza. Bring your cooler, floats, and towel down to Ohuta Beach to take part in our community wide beach party. We will have a food truck, music, a sand dig for the kids, and hopefully A LOT of sunshine. See you all there!

~Happy Summer 😊
