As the warm summer sun approaches, we are thrilled to enter event season in Lake City which is guaranteed to bring joy and excitement to everyone in our community! We will kick it off with a special honor: Lake City will be hosting the Governor’s Fishing Opener on May 11th. Our team has organized a special community event that is open to the public Friday, May 10th from 4-8pm. Come down to Ohuta Park to enjoy live music by Los Rebeldes, delicious food trucks, a beverage tent, a water ski show by the famous Ski Dox, and of course a chance to get outside and celebrate spring with family and friends.
I want everyone to know that hosting the Governor’s Fishing Opener isn’t just about the Governor coming to Lake City. It’s about the wealth of positive impacts to our community for years to come. Media coverage of the event puts Lake City in the spotlight, attracting visitors from across the state and beyond. This will create a boost in tourism which translates to increased revenue for our local restaurants, shops, and lodging establishments. Showcasing our beautiful city and warm hospitality on a statewide stage fosters a sense of pride among residents. We get to share the unique charm of Lake City with a wider audience, which is so exciting.
Heather, Ed, and I are so incredibly thankful to our planning committee that has helped us make this possible. Without them, we could not have pulled this off! I know you have heard me preach this many times before, but without the support, commitment, and partnership on all levels from our community members, business partners, service groups, and volunteers we wouldn’t have such an amazing little town that is thriving. If you are passionate about our community and want to contribute to a summer full of fun events, we encourage you to get involved. Volunteering is a great way to connect with other community members, meet new friends, and let’s face it…have FUN!
I hope to see you all out and about in Lake City, and please join us for our community event at Ohuta Park on May 10th. Lastly, make sure to stay tuned because we have a lot to share in the coming weeks regarding Water Ski Days and the announcement of another NEW event that will take place this summer in Lake City.
~Cheers,
